The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is one of the most awaited upcoming vehicles not only because it is all-electric but also because of its retro style. As mentioned by the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles department (VWCV), more than 20 000 security deposits have been taken for the ID. Buzz.

  • Volkswagen is set to produce 15 000 units per year by the end of 2022
  • Production volume will increase gradually to hit 130 000 units per year
  • The Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be available in several 2-tone paint finishes.

Be Patient

Out of the 15 000 units that should be produced by the end of the year 2022, only 9 000 examples will find their way to the customer. The other 6 000 units will be used by Volkswagen itself for various purposes, such as press car fleets or simply as a display for upcoming auto shows or dealers.

The goal is to reach a production of 130 000 units annually, but Volkswagen hasn't really mentioned when it intends to achieve this number exactly.

Europe will be the first market to get the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the first unit should arrive in dealers by the end of the year. The long-wheel-base version should be unveiled and commercialized in North America sometime in 2023 before reaching dealers in 2024.

A Concept That Became Reality

I think we are all very excited about the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The Volkswagen Buss was so famous in the 60s, and it became a potent symbol of this era in the automobile industry. The original Bus was prevalent for camping and long road trips. These two activities gained a lot of popularity back in the last few years, and I think this is one of the main reasons why Volkswagen was able to transform the ID. Buzz concept into a production model. Using an all-electric platform allowed more creativity in the way Volkswagen designed the new ID. Buzz, There was able to encapsulate the essence of the model and replicate everything that made it a great vehicle back then.

The Power of an EV Powertrain

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be available only in a rear-wheel-drive configuration at first. It will be equipped with an 82 kWh battery pack similar to the one you can find in the ID.4 SUV. This version will also use the same electric motor, which produces 201 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. No numbers have been revealed yet amounting to the average range on a single charge, but we can expect it to be way over 400 kilometers (423 km estimated by Volkswagen). With a 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz isn't fast, but it should still be a lot of fun to drive.

A dual-motor all-wheel-drive version should be added to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz lineup later next year. This version will likely get the same setup as the ID.4, with a total power of 295 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque.

I don't know about you, but I am impatient to see all those colorful ID. Buzz on the road in Canada.
